Hello, gentlemen, I hope your holidays are going well. I also hope that the Jim Butterfield DVD I sent was well-received at the World of Commodore Show. However, though I'd like to discuss happier matters, something more serious has come up. This is in regards to Golan Klinger, who may or may not be a member of TPUG. Let me start from the beginning. Many months ago, Golan made himself known on various chats and forums and seemed respectful and interested in all things Commodore. I felt no need to feel anything amiss, and in fact, we traded a few C= items. However, his behavior started changing. First, he started contradicting my statements on the forums. Well, o.k., he is entitled to free speech, but I thought it was odd that his friendly behavior had suddenly spun itself 180 degrees. His behavior has gotten worse over the months, attacking me at various points. The worse of it was when he ordered me to stop posting C= news at the Denial (VIC-20) forum and insulted me by saying I was "talking to myself". He confronted me at the #c64friends chat, and we exchanged words. I accused him of trying to censor me. (I can provide his Denial e-mails and a #c64friends chat log to show what happened.) Now he is becoming even more vociferous, as I try to ignore him on the #c64friends chat and on comp.sys.cbm. He is crying out that everything I am putting out, all the C= news I pass out, is spam. Here is his latest -- Golan Klinger Dec 19, 9:01 pm Sam Gillett wrote: > Now, now. Cut Robert some slack. After all, he is the closest thing we > have to a Current Events Reporter. Right, because we need to read the same thing in five or six newsgroups, two or three mailing lists and a three or four web forums? He should start a blog to which interested parties can subscribe. I politely suggested it to him once and he threw a hissy fit. I'm looking forward to having a face to face chat with him about it in Vegas. It could get interesting. -- Golan Klinger First of all, the above was not a polite request. Second, he began what he says was a hissy fit. However, I'm not into "he says... she says". I take the last two lines of his statement seriously. I have talked to and e-mailed my club members about the above statement, and they tell me not to worry about it. As a teacher, though, I look upon it as a sign of future trouble. I have stated on the #c64friends chat that I will not go to the World of Commodore Expo because of Golan's behavior. Why should I go to such a show if I will be treated with abuse when I go there? I have advised my other friends, like Jeri Ellsworth, to also steer clear of the WoC. But if Golan intends to come to Commodore Vegas Expo to confront me, that is a different matter. Must I get hotel security to watch our entrance door? That would cost our show money. Must I look into other legal means to prevent such a confrontation? I am calling on you to help me out on this. I have nothing against the WoC; I'd like to attend, but the behavior of Golan has cancelled any plans. CommVEx is a *friendly* show, full of friendly C= people. If Golan were to make good on his idea to confront me, then it would not look good for our show. Thank you for reading this letter and thank you for your time. Sincerely, Robert Bernardo
